I went to the University of Colorado to complete my studies in international business in 1996. While there, I went to a nanny agency to find a part time job. As luck would have it, a couple asked me if I would start my position working the midnight shift until their twins were sleeping through the night. I remember like it was yesterday, how much I loved working with the babies and how peaceful it was in the middle of the night. Once those babies were on track, I searched endlessly to try to find another night position and over a decade, and two states later, I continued working the night shift. Now, I have a wonderful husband and little girl of my own. I have accumulated a lot of knowledge about babies throughout the years, which made my own child rearing quite simple, really.
When Zoe was born I had my opinions about what I needed and didn’t need, but there were areas that I had never ventured into since I seldom worked the day shift. Besides that, it seemed like every time I went to a new family (which was generally every four mouths), there was a whole new item or two on the market. Some of them proved to be very useful, and others were simply a waste of money.
This led me to a lot of research, which is without doubt very time-consuming. But really, who wants to leave the safety of their child to the product that in the end matches their home décor best! I remember walking into “Babies r Us” and thinking “I shouldn’t be overwhelmed, but I really am.” I think that my poor husband was turning purple after a half hour. Sure the associates tried their best to help, but it seemed that there was no basis for their replies, which varied from clerk to clerk…and somewhere amongst these answers, laid the truth.
I have always loved to decorate. People would often tell me that I should do it for a living after entering my home, but I did it for the shear passion of it. I even worked as a personal organizer for a short period of time, but always returned to the babies. Now, I have finally found a way to tie all of my passions together: decorator, organizer and baby consulting. I have to continually test new product, frequent the baby trade shows and shops and spent time teaching families about their babies. And so it goes, I have found my way and am completely elated by my final destination. I cannot wait to meet you, and soon, your baby!
